Book Club Info
After spending most of 2017 avoiding the news and generally not engaging much with people or culture outside my home and family (for my sanity's sake - I gave birth to a baby girl three days after our last presidential election), I'm starting my very own book club to help get me back into the world in 2018. Women only. Authors who are women of color only. We'll meet once a month, on the last Tuesday of the month, and we will be serious about doing the reading and coming ready to discuss it. I hope you'll join me, and I hope together we'll grow and learn and get uncomfortable for the sake of making the world a better/kinder/more peaceful place for our children.
Here’s a (mostly) finalized list of the books we'll read. I ultimately decided that fiction is most important to me, and that reading newer books is probably useful for the context of what we’re trying to do here. I figured you might like to plan ahead a bit, so here you go! Most of these titles are readily available at the Denver Public Library now but a few won't be published in paperback until later in the year, if that matters to you. This is a low stakes but serious book club, so there's no need to commit to anything other than reading books. Just come if you can/want to!
