Who's thankful today?
Who are you going to tell?
What are you going to say?
I've been overwhelmed recently with gratitude for my mom and dad, who they are, and how they raised me.
Yesterday Dann and I went to Boulder to help my baby brother move into his dorm room, and it struck me how much my parents have done over the last 32 years to raise five kids, send us all to college, and support us as we make the transition into full-on adulthood.
I lived in a different place every year of college, and every summer my dad would drive to Boulder to help me move, then buy me lunch at Mustard's Last Stand.
Since I didn't have a car, every time I needed to get home from college, my mom would drive to Boulder, pick me up, and drive me back. (Except for that one time she sent me in the cab of an 18-wheeler.)
I know the transition into life as empty-nesters is going to be a big one for my parents. They were so busy with raising kids for so long, it's hard to imagine they remember all the other things they've ever wanted to do in life.
BUT they're taking a trip to Philly and NYC in October, and they're super jazzed about it. It brings me such joy to hear them making plans together to do something they've never done before, that they have the freedom to do now. I LOVE it, in fact.
So here's to my mom and dad, for being such outstanding parents.
