I'll be honest, I felt mad at God when I woke up and saw the first reports of the shooting in Aurora this morning. My heart aches for the lives taken and the families who are now faced with such tragic losses. I watched the news long enough to catch some stellar reporting done by a friend from high school and college, and then I made the decision to turn the tv off. If there's one thing I know about my reaction to this sort of thing, it's that the line between hearing enough to be informed and hearing so much that I am overwhelmed to the point of debilitating sadness is very thin.
Just yesterday, regarding the overwhelmingly sad mess at Penn State, a wise lady told me: "All you can do is care for your own soul." So the television is off, I'm allowing myself to be excited about the wedding we're going to tonight, and I will do my best today to be in a constant state of prayer for all the medical, law enforcement, and news reporting people who are still hard at work. It's the best I can do. So here they are - my favorite things from the Internet lately - just for you.
Who hasn't wanted to get drunk and cook and make a video? (There's some profanity - FYI.)
Some clever food photos. My favorite is the rigatoni.
"You wouldn't be interested in a soldier who was only a little brave." Love this letter.
Have you ever wondered how a piano is made? Check out these photos.
