There are few things as refreshing as an unplanned day off. Since we've accumulated 14 inches of snow in Denver during the last 24 hours (and it's still falling!), school was cancelled.
I started the day by discovering that when I signed up for a Pinterest account, I unknowingly linked it to my facebook profile and was "following" a whole bunch of people on Pinterest. I felt old and inept and maybe a little embarrassed. I looked around at a few people's "boards" and "pins" for a minute and decided that I'm actually not interested in Pinterest. I'm starting to think I'm not interested in facebook, either, but that's another story. Anyway, I deleted my Pinterest account and decided that if and when I need a) craft ideas, b) recipe ideas, or c) to see what my friends are up to, there are better ways to find what I'm looking for.
Then I came across this piece and it affirmed that, for me, leaving Pinterest was the right decision.
I did, however, get a little crafty today. I decided to finish a project I started over a year ago, seeing as Valentine's Day is just around the corner.
Last year, I went to a letterpress workshop and made some Valentine's cards and envelopes with my own two hands. It was really satisfying and fun! When I left, though, I hadn't assembled the envelopes and then never got around to sending the cards. Oops.
Now the envelopes are all put together and the cards are ready to be sent out!
Hooray for snow days and being crafty on my own terms.
