My mom turned sixty last Saturday.
We planned a big surprise party, and even flew my brother in from South Carolina the night before. My sister and I took my mom out to lunch and a bit of birthday shoe shopping, then brought her back to the party room in our building for the rest of the surprises.
So many people came throughout the afternoon to celebrate with us, and I just couldn't help but delight in the fact that my mom's life has affected so many others, in such wonderful ways.
I hope when I turn sixty, I'm half the lady my mom is.
