You may remember that my brother and his wife moved to Clover, South Carolina just before school started this year. They told us they were leaving and within just a couple of weeks they were gone.
So imagine how excited I was when I found out we were headed to Rock Hill, SC for a house show this week - 30 minutes from where Mark and Brittany live.
We had all day Monday to spend in town, so Dann and I went to Brittany’s family farm. It’s been in the family since the 1950s when Brittany’s grandpa bought it, and she grew up spending holidays there with her family. It’s obviously a very special place.
After she fed us a delicious lunch, Brittany took us on a tour of the place. We got to see the “jar house” where all the canned vegetables live during the winter months, Brittany’s dad riding the John Deere to cut the grass, one of the brand new baby cows, and the pecan tree (Brittany's mom even gathered a bag full of fresh pecans to send with us - Thanksgiving pie, anyone?). It was quite a treat.
We also had the chance to go to Clover High School and check out Mr. Loyd’s classroom. Don’t worry, everything there is as it should be.
It was such a sweet, unexpected surprise to find out we would have the chance to see these two and spend some good quality time with them. Now it’s only a handful of weeks until they’re back in Colorado for Christmas!
