Good morning, friends.
We made it to Nashville late last night and now Dann and I are kicking back, drinking free coffee and watching free HBO in our hotel room. Life is so good. (Full disclosure: we got stuck in a room with two full beds, both of which are basically glorified air mattresses. It's not all glitz and glamour on the road, folks.)
Week one of the tour was really fun. It was a lot more work than I anticipated, but I think that was largely because everything I was doing was new to me and I sometimes have a tendency to get a little bit anxious in those kinds of situations. Nothing catastrophic happened, though, and I would even go so far as to say I think I make a pretty kick ass road manager.
Anyway, I've decided (thanks, in part, to my blogtern's advice) to document each city and show by taking instagram shots of each show from where I sit at the merch table. I'm calling it 'View From The Merch Table' and so far I think I've gotten a few pretty good shots.
The Prophet Bar, Dallas, 9/27
Ecclesia, Houston, 9/28
The Grand Stafford Theater, College Station, 9/29
I'm not the most consistent instagrammer, but if you want to see these shots as I take them, you should follow me there. I'm jennyloydstockton.
While we were in Houston, we also got to spend time with our friends the Sniders and the Booths, both of whom we adore and love getting to see on a fairly regular basis even though they live so far away. Dann coaxed little Noah out of his post-nap funk with his snare drum and it was one of the most precious things I've ever seen.
We'll be in Nashville until tomorrow, when we head for Lexington, Kentucky to start the weekend's shows. I hear Nashville is beautiful this time of year and I'm so glad I get to be along for the ride!
