Happy Thursday to you.
Today I'm feeling thankful for the fact that I have always had a body healthy enough to allow me to do all the things I wanted to do.
The day before we left, I had some x-rays taken of my spinal cord because I had been experiencing moderate neck and back pain for weeks. I'd actually been running fairly regularly and was feeling like I was in great shape, save for the pain. My doctor told me she thought I probably had a slipped disk, but that she wanted to get some x-rays just to be safe.
I got a message from her office on Monday telling me she sees permanent scoliosis in my neck and upper thoracic vertebrae. I have to go back and talk to her about what that means when we're at home in a few weeks. Woof.
For now, I'm reminded that I'm able to walk, to use an elliptical machine, to stretch after sitting in a van for 13 hours, and to physically do a lot of things that I mostly take for granted day in and day out. I know my body is going to wear out and decay as I get older, but I want to be able to recognize the fact that I'm able to do so many things simply because I was born with a body that works the way it was meant to.
If you're the kind of person who believes in the power of prayer, I would love your prayers for peace of mind during the next few weeks while I don't really know what's happening in my neck and back. I don't want to let it keep me from enjoying my time on the road with Dann, especially since there's nothing I can do about it from here anyway.
What are you thankful for today?
